Chicago Cub legend Kerry Wood and wife Sarah have “gone country” for their upcoming fundraiser titled “Woody’s Western Roundup” on Wednesday, October 22, at Joe’s Bar (940 W. Weed St.). In addition to live music, the event will feature cocktails and food stations from some of the country’s top restaurants. Proceeds will benefit the Wood Family Foundation that has raised more than $4 million to date for Chicago’s kids.
Woody’s Western Roundup headliner will be Tennessee native Chris Young who landed on the country music scene in 2006 after winning Nashville Star, a singing competition on the USA Network. His victory earned him a contract with RCA Records Nashville. Young’s last four singles have all hit #1 on the charts, including his hit “Gettin’ You Home.”
The Wood Family Foundation, founded by Sarah and Kerry in 2011, supports kids and families in under-served neighborhoods. This philanthropic pair recently hosted a Baseball Clinic and Back-to-School Bonanza where they passed out backpacks and school supplies to kids in the Austin, Englewood, Lawndale and Humboldt Park communities.
Tickets for the event are $125 for general admission (that includes concert and open bar) and $250 for VIP (that includes early entry, open bar and food stations).
